I had such an amazing experience with my new hairstylist! She really listened to what I was looking for and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted before getting started. She was very informative throughout the process, explaining what she was doing and why, which made me feel comfortable and confident. She was also very gentle and paid close attention to every detail. You can tell she truly cares about her work and her clients. I cannot say enough about my experience at this salon. The service was truly top-notch from start to finish — professional, educational, and genuinely attentive. I went in for what I thought would be a simple cleansing wash… and walked out with my hair completely rejuvenated. For context, I have a half head of dreads and an extreme amount of volume and length. Many salons are honestly intimidated by my hair texture, density, and the maintenance that comes with locs — but not here. Not once did I feel like “too much.” Instead, I felt understood, respected, and taken care of. They thoroughly detoxed my scalp and dreads, explaining the process along the way so I actually learned something about my own hair. The care and patience they showed was unmatched. And somehow — even with all this hair — they still made time to cut and shape it beautifully mid-service without ever making me feel rushed. The environment was welcoming, skilled, and confident. That kind of expertise is rare! If you have thick hair, locs, volume, length, or have ever felt hesitant walking into a salon because of your texture — this is the place. They don’t just “handle” your hair… they honor it. I left feeling lighter, refreshed, and completely confident. 10/10 experience.

I saw Emily 3ish months ago for a partial highlight and cut. I asked for very low maintenance blonde so I can go long stretches between services. That was my first time there, trying to find a new stylist after moving here a few years ago. I was really happy with the service, really liked the vibe of the salon, and Emily is very personable and a great stylist…I’m just bad about leaving reviews. Leaving one NOW because while I was back in my hometown this past weekend I went to my friend’s salon for a blow out and another stylist came over to compliment her on my beautiful blonde. She said she could only take credit for the blow out, but they both agreed that I should tell Emily the highlights still look great. I saw another friend who’s also a stylist while up there who 2 minutes into our lunch date said “your hair looks good - that’s the one, go back to her”. So 3 stylists in MD (and me) agree, Emily does lived-in blonde very well. I definitely recommend Onora if you’re looking for a new salon with a very calm but bright/airy boho vibe.
